The Nepal Music Fund was established to support and celebrate music through education, performance, creativity, preservation, and cultural exchange.
We believe music has the power to inspire creativity, connect people, preserve cultural traditions, and bring communities together. The Fund supports individuals and initiatives that contribute to the development and appreciation of music, with a particular commitment to ethnic Nepali music, instruments, and musical traditions.
Our Mission
The Nepal Music Fund supports musicians, educators, students, organizations, and musical initiatives that encourage musical creativity and help preserve, promote, and share ethnic Nepali music and musical traditions.
We welcome creativity across all musical genres and traditions. At the same time, we believe ethnic Nepali music and traditional instruments are an important part of Nepal's cultural heritage and should continue to be valued, shared, and carried forward by new generations.
Our goal is not only to preserve traditional music, but also to encourage musicians to explore, reinterpret, and introduce ethnic Nepali music and instruments to new audiences and into new musical settings.
Our Programs
Shyamantak Music Award
Recognizing and encouraging musical creativity, achievement, and inspiration.
Shyamantak Music Award was established in loving memory of Shyamantak, a passionate musician and songwriter who believed deeply in the importance of artistic creativity.
The award recognizes individuals at different stages of their musical journey—from beginners and students to emerging, professional, and well-established musicians.
All musical genres are welcome. The award places particular value on an appreciation for ethnic Nepali music, instruments, and musical traditions.

Music Support & Grants
The Nepal Music Fund may provide support for selected musical projects and initiatives that advance our mission of encouraging musical creativity and preserving and promoting ethnic Nepali music, instruments, and musical traditions.
Support may include music education, performances, recordings, documentation, preservation, cultural programming, or other initiatives that make a meaningful contribution to music.
Opportunities for support will be considered by the Nepal Music Fund as appropriate and based on available resources and the merits of individual projects.
Ethnic Nepali Music & Traditions
The Nepal Music Fund seeks to encourage the preservation, exploration, and continued evolution of ethnic Nepali music, instruments, and musical traditions.
This may include traditional instruments, musical forms, languages, rhythms, melodies, performance traditions, documentation, education, and collaborations that introduce ethnic Nepali music to new audiences and generations.
