This scholarship was established in loving memory of Shyamantak. Shyam (or Sham), as most knew him, grew up in Kathmandu, Nepal. After graduating from St. Xavier’s School he moved to the United States where he eventually made his home in Ypsilanti, MI. He was a spirited and dynamic individual who was a roofer by trade but a musician at heart. He believed that artistic creativity and spiritualism were essential components of life and constantly pursued his passion for songwriting and performing music. The scholarship is intended to expand and enhance support of individuals committed to developing and/or refining their musical talents.
Scholarships will be awarded for music education towards a degree or program. The committee will plan and oversee the scholarship program including nomination and award of scholarships.
The scholarship is open to all ages and ethnicity, and is need/merit based. Deadline for scholarship applications are end of April each year, and will be awarded in August.
